How We Use Information
We use the information you provide about yourself only to correspond with you as appropriately related to a particular activity. For example, we will email you to inform you if you win a contest. We do not share any of this information with outside parties unless we are legally obligated to do so.

We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

You have complete control over your participation in our community and any information you submit on our website to register or receive certain services will only be used for those services.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

How to Access or Correct Your Information
You can access and correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by logging in to our community and clicking on My Controls.
Parents of children under the age of 13 can review the child’s personal information under My Controls of the child’s login and refuse to permit the further collection or use of the child’s information by contacting admin@thewriteauthor.com. If the parent does not have the child’s login information, the administrator of The Write Author will obligingly assist as soon as proof of relationship has been established.

COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) Compliance and Parental Permission Form

Dear Parent,

Your child has requested to join our writing community at The Write Author, which means we need to collect some personal information. In compliance with COPPA, your consent is required for this collection. Please read the Privacy Policy and Parental Permission Form in its entirety.

Note: Absolutely NO information gathered on our website is given or sold to third parties (unless we are legally obligated to do so). The information is strictly used for registering and maintaining community membership. The type of information that is gathered is as follows:

Registration
Login Name – Will be used to login and will not be visible on the website.
Display Name – Will be used as an identifier on the website and will be visible to all members.
Email Address – Will be used to validate registration. May also be used for pertinent communication from The Write Author staff (i.e. notify a member if they won a contest or to respond to a support issue).
Credit/Debit Card – Will be used to purchase a subscription to The Write Author. This information is secured by PayPal and not visible to the staff or members of The Write Author.

Cancellation
Name – Will be used to address the member in the cancellation confirmation.
Login Name – Will be used to verify and confirm the cancellation.
Display Name – Will be used to verify and confirm the cancellation.
Email Address – Will be used to verify and confirm the cancellation. May also be used to email periodic offers for renewal subscriptions for which you will be given a chance to opt out.

Member to Member Communication
The Write Author community has a built in messenger service for member to member communication that does not require email. However, a member has the option of choosing to communicate with someone via email and therefore revealing his email address.

Cookies and IP addresses are collected and solely used to enable login capability and to protect against breaches of security or malicious intent.
